Description

Requiem for Democracy is a secular funeral mass written by Flavio Zanuttini. The suite takes shape as a rite of passage for contemporary democracy, pointing toward the possibility of new forms better suited to the present.

The ensemble brings together trumpet, clarinet and horn, expanded by the electronics of the modular synthesizer. The classical backgrounds of Miljan Minic and Andrea Liani intertwine with Zanuttini’s improvisational and electronic practice, giving rise to a dense and evocative sound texture. The music unfolds through a shifting dialogue between acoustic instruments and electronics, moving between ritual invocations, fragmented themes, rhythmic tensions and suspended textures. Chamber music, improvisation and electronic processing coexist here in a state of unresolved dialogue.

The release is enriched by a text by anthropologist Giustina Selvelli, which accompanies the listener through a critical and interpretative reading of the work.
