Description

“Brazzaville” is the debut album of the DalaiQuartet, a group founded by drummer, percussionist, and composer Emanuel Donadelli. The ensemble — featuring Flavio Zanuttini on trumpet, Mirko Cisilino on trombone, Marzio Tomada on double bass, and Donadelli himself on drums — invites us on an ideal sonic journey, vaguely kaleidoscopic and intoxicating.

It is a voyage that evokes exotic resonances, where shamanic imagery surfaces alongside echoes of both Afro-American and European musical traditions, as if in a search for archaic roots. This journey unfolds through ancient and modern references, where ever-changing landscapes and horizons gradually reveal states of the soul and of time.

The music, all composed by Donadelli, blends composition and improvisation into a fluid language of gestures, rituals, and sudden openings. Brazzaville is both a place and a metaphor — a listening space where intuition, memory, and rhythm dissolve into one another, revealing a world as unstable as it is vivid.
