Description

Recorded live under the stars of Vitaleta Chapel in Tuscany, Italy, Live in Vitaleta is the fourth album released by the international improvisers’ ensemble TMR – Tuscany Music Revolution and the second live, recorded during the 2023 artistic residency of the ensemble.

Among new members from Australia (alto saxophonist Flora Carbo) and Catalunya (oboist, English horn player, and vocalist Cèlia Tort Pujol) and musicians from Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands who have been part of the project since the first two albums – Virginia Sutera (violin), Michele Mazzini (bass clarinet), Alberto Braida (keyboards), Gabriele Lattuada (percussion and objects), and Ermanno Novali (live electronics and synthesizers) – this album feature also the Milan-Berlin based drummer Francesca Remigi.

As always with TMR, this set is built entirely on free improvisation, unfolding as a living sound environment that continually reshapes itself—from sparse, quiet gestures to richer, more adventurous explorations of color and texture. The musicians engage deeply with their instruments’ expressive possibilities, letting interaction and instant decision-making guide the music’s structure. The presence of drums brings a stronger sense of propulsion and a touch of rock-like energy, giving the recording an added surge of momentum.

Tuscany Music Revolution was recognized by Musica Jazz magazine as one of the top 10 jazz bands and albums of the year in 2022 and 2023.
