Description

La Otra Band is a Barcelona-based collective of improvisers formed around La Otra Jam, an open session dedicated to free improvisation that has become a meeting point for musicians and artists within the city’s experimental scene.

The jam welcomes instrumentalists, dancers, poets, and visual artists, creating a space where different practices can intersect and where improvisation unfolds as a shared, collective process.
This album originates from a recording session held on March 12, 2025, bringing together fourteen musicians with no pre-written material. Rather than presenting the result as a straightforward live document, the recordings were approached as raw sonic matter: fragments of improvisation later reshaped through editing, layering, and sound design.

The result is what the collective describes as produced improvisation — a work that preserves the immediacy and unpredictability of collective improvisation while extending it through the possibilities of the studio. The album unfolds as a series of evolving textures and interactions, where spontaneous gestures are recontextualized and assembled into a new sonic landscape.
