Description

“You practice so you can invent. Discipline? No. The joy of practicing leads you to the celebration of the creation”. (Cecyl Taylor)

This album was recorded on April 6th, 2018, right after the band learned that Cecil Taylor had passed away. It came as a spontaneous flow of ideas inspired by his music, as well as a tribute to his visionary genius.

The quartet, composed by Alberto Dipace on piano, Andrea Massaria on guitar and effects, Danilo Gallo on double bass and ukulele and Ferdinando Faraò on drums, moves freely inspired by Cecil Taylor’s music.

In the absence of a predefined harmonic and melodic structure, the parameters of free improvisation simply follow and develop in a unique and spontaneous flow of ideas, through a deep listening and interplay, with the intention to work and experiment beyond the standard and linear vision of time, harmony and melody.
