Description
With “Fat Cat and Drunk Mouse in Zero Gravity”, pianist Masahiko Ueji and cellist Hui-Chun Lin present their second collaborative album – released ten years after their debut, Fat Cat and Drunk Mouse (2015).
The recordings are rooted in free improvisation, at times shaped by compositional frameworks – long before the idea of a “space narrative” took form. Only afterwards were the pieces titled “Red Stars”, “Solar System” or “Félicette”, evoking the imagery of a cosmic expedition. The result is a musical journey that oscillates between fantasy and reality, traversing emotions from excitement and curiosity to melancholy and emptiness.
Over the years, the two artists have forged a distinctive musical language, in which the figures of Fat Cat and Drunk Mouse continually reappear. “In Zero Gravity” is not only an artistic exploration but also a testament to their friendship – and to the companions who have stood by them, offering support and inspiration along the way.
