Mirko Cisilino began studying the trumpet at 11 years old and immediately, thanks to the maestro Fabrizio
Fontanot, he also became passionate about composition and arrangement.
After various attempts in the conservatories of Udine, Klagenfurt and Amsterdam, he began his own course of studies and since 2004, with a focus on improvisation and harmonic research, in any form, he has always been interested in the most disparate musical genres and the mix of the arts, collaborating
also a lot with the theater (Aida Talliente, Fabiano Fantini, Max Somaglino) and contemporary dance
(Arearea, Luigina Gressani), as well as with many other musicians and artists from around the world.
Very close to large ensembles and playing multiple instruments (trumpet, trombone, French horn, tuba)
for years he has collaborated with the Zerorchestra (PN), an ensemble between jazz and contemporary music of the early
twentieth century that provides soundtracks to silent films (thus meeting the German pianist and violinist
Gunter Buchwald), the North East Ska Jazz Orchestra (fvg) and others between Italy and Europe, and as
director and arranger with the Abbey Town Jazz Orchestra (VE), without neglecting the countless
works in the recording studio.
To date, as a trumpet player, he plays in Doug Hammond’s trio and in Glauco Venier’s Quartetto Nuovo,
while as an electric organist, with Dematrimonio and Fainas (BO), as a multi- instrumentalist
(brass, synth) with C’mon Tigre (BO), Maistah Aphrica, Gertrude 5et and Ermes Ghirardini’s quintet, on trombone with Emanuel Donadelli’s DALAII 4et and maintaining a collaboration with Giovanni Maier for years.
He was part of the New Thing trio of pianist Franco D’Andrea as well as his orchestra Sketches of
the XX century.
In 2020 his first album as a leader was released, Effetto Carsico (Auand Records).
