Born 1974 in Freiburg in a musical family, started playing piano and viola at age 7, saxophone at age 13. Discovered the fun of improvising music with friends 2 years later. Improvising music with his friends is still the best thing he can think of.

Studied at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, amongst others with Gebhard Ullmann, Jiggs Wigham and Gerard Presencer, graduated 2003. He is active in the Berlin music scene, having played with musicians like John Schröder, Satoko Fuji, Magda Mayas and many more.

With his Trio kokotob with Taiko Saito and Niko Meinhold he toured in Japan and recorded an Album for clean feed records. Another project dear to his heart is the Broede Schirmer Unit with the acclaimed harmonica player Matthias Broede. He has won the studio award of the Berlin senate and performed all over Europe including Iceland with musicians like Roberta Andersen.
