Sergio Mariotti is a double bass player born in Bologna on the 6th february of 1998. He started playing the electric bass at the age of sexteen getting involved mainly in rock bands. When he was nineteen he discovered Jazz music and falled in love with the acoustic double bass. Then he decided to start praticting this beatiful instrument.

In 2022 he graduated with full marks at the Conservatory in Bologna named “Giovanni Battista Martini”. Here he studied with various Masters of the instrument like Paolo Ghetti, Pietro Ciancaglini, Simone Serafini and Luca Pirozzi. He then attended the Master Degree in the Ferrara Conservatory “Girolamo Frescobaldi” where, under the guidance of his Master Stefano Senni, he graduated with full marks in february 2025.

He attended various workshop lead by international and national artists like: George Cables, Steve Coleman, Joelle Leandre, Dudù Kouaté, Simone La Maida, Gunther Sommer, Rob Mazurek, José Antonio Molina Ponce.
In may 2024 he attended, in Correggio, the workshop “Correggio on Time”. In 2024 He won the scolarship “Emanuele Rossi” wich allowed him to attend Siena Jazz summer Workshop. So he took classes with artists like Joe Sanders, Thomas Morgan, Kanoa Mendenhall and Gabriele Evangelista and played together with Ethan Iverson, Harmen Fraanje, Theo Bleckmann and Stefano Tamborrino. In may 2025 He attended contest/workshop “Correggio On Time Plus 2025” and came second with the band Vincenzo Bosco 6tet.

In 2021 He played in the record“Caffè della Piazza” with the band “Les Parapluies” for FonoFabrique label. In 2023 He played in the record “Hardly Working” for Wow Records label with Francesco Antico on guitar and Francesco Benizio on drums.
He played in various Jazz festival like Piacenza Jazz Fest, Moncalieri Jazz Festival, Bologna Jazz Festival, Crossroads Jazz Festival.
He had the opportunity to play with known italian and international jazz artists like: Alessandro Paternesi, Anka Koziel, Marcello Allulli, Fabrizio Puglisi, Giancarlo Giannini, Stefano Paolini, Teo Ciavarella, Achille Succi, Daniele Santimone, Michele Corcella, Marta Raviglia, Marco Ferri, Barend Middelhoff, Marco Bovi, Michael Harding, Davide Brillante, Matteo Raggi, Federico Pierantoni, Domenico Caliri, Nico Menci, Adam Pache.
