Max Arsava is a Berlin based pianist and composer. Besides his main instrument, he also plays synthesizers and other electroacoustic devices working with tapes, contact microphones, objects, as well as loopers and samplers. Growing up in Weilheim, Bavaria, local musicians such as Johannes Enders and The Notwist sparked his interest in divergent styles of jazz, new music, punk and various incarnations of electronic music. He studied jazz piano at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg with Bernhard Pichl and at the Hochschule für Musik Weimar with Achim Kaufmann. Concerts have led him to Austria, Luxembourg, Belgium, France, England and the United States. In 2018, he co-founded the trio werken with Copenhagen based vocalist Sarah Buchner and clarinetist Sebastian Langer from Düsseldorf, which aims for an improvised chamber music beyond stylistic listening expectations; in 2023, the trio presented its debut album kollektive verkabelung. Since 2022 he has been working on the cybernetic extension of prepared piano with composer and sound artist Jascha Hagen. In the same year he became part of the radio art collective Rundfunkorchestra. Furthermore he has been collaborating with musicians such as Bill Elgart, Alex Bayer, Loren Stillman, Max Koch, Ignaz Schick, Jordan White, Jonas Sorgenfrei and many others.
