MASAHIKO UEJI
pianist, synthesizer player, composer – Born in 1981 in Japan, based in Marseille FRANCE.

He began classical piano training at the age of five. He discovered rock and jazz while a high school student and branched out into other musical worlds in Tokyo.

Deeply influenced by free jazz. free improvisation, noise, free jazz, and contemporary classical. he started exploring the boundaries of instruments and sound from 2010, developing a unique approach to contemporary music, particularly during his time in Berlin (2010–2013).

Since relocating to France in 2014, he has led his main project DAREDA, a synth-and-drum duo performing his original compositions. The project blends psychederek rock with a continued focus on sonic exploration and improvisation. Also as his solo work, he focus on live-electronic music, created on the basis of analogue synthesizers.

Rooted in this background, he has been developing his own musical language. Through music caught between construction and deconstruction, he continues to explore the imaginative and impulsive aspects of humankind.
