Erica Ruggiero
Appears on:ERICA RUGGIERO is an Italian pianist, keyboardist, singer and electronic music player.
She began her musical journey studying classical piano, taking part in competitions and winning prizes such as the 1st prize with Trio Bassi at the 5th International Competition “Città di Scandicci” in 2016.
She graduated in jazz piano cum laude at “G. Frescobaldi” Conservatory in Ferrara and later earned her Master’s Degree in Electroacoustic Improvisation at “G.B. Martini” Conservatory in Bologna.
She has always ranged across musical genres—from jazz to electroacoustic improvisation, alternative pop, soul, folk, shoegaze, ethnic and afro-latin music—and has been part of heterogeneous projects, including Ars Antiqua World Jazz Ensemble (with which she won the 2024 IMAIE Award), TWO/HUNDRED (winner of the “Original Music” section of the 2020 “Premio Nazionale delle Arti”; and winner of the first prize in the “La musica è un tuo diritto” 2022 competition by Areagiovani in Ferrara), BIG and Trust The Process (electroacoustic improvisation groups), Rarichi (contemporary jazz), Ndaya Group (contemporary jazz, with participation in the 2025 “Gezziamoci Jazz Festival” competition), a workgroup led by the choreographer Sarah Mark Mininsohn (participation in the 2023 “Corpografie” festival with a site-specific audio-dance performance), Jade & The Bounce Clowns (swing), Tai Paz (performances at the “San Marino International Arts Festival” 2025 and “Santa Sofia Festival” 2025) and numerous other ensembles.
She has taken part in several masterclasses—including “The Unreal Book” with Piero Bittolo Bon and Alfonso Santimone, as well as with Susanne Abbuel, Dudu Kouate, Giuliana Soscia, Walter Prati, Raffaella Ronchi, Roberto Zanata—and in artistic residencies such as with ISAR Orchestra Blue Ring; a residency at “Spazio Matta” during the “Corpografie” festival in Pescara; and collaboration with the Department of Electronic Music of the Ionian University of Corfù.
