Pierpaolo Zenni
Appears on:Born in Chieti in 1998, Pierpaolo Zenni began studying music at a very young age. He earned a first-level degree in Classical Piano with top marks (110 cum laude) and, alongside his classical studies, pursued jazz piano under the guidance of Maestro Marco Di Battista. After completing his undergraduate studies, he enrolled in the two-year program at Siena Jazz University, studying with Fabrizio Puglisi, Yonathan Avishai, Jeff Ballard, Ferenc Nemeth, Giovanni Falzone, Demian Cabaud, Gabriele Evangelista, Dan Kinzelman and many others, graduating with a jazz master’s degree (110 cum laude).
He won the 2022 Conad Jazz Contest with the quintet Five Angry Men, received the Mutti Prize from the Bologna Jazz Festival (including a full scholarship to the Siena Jazz summer workshops) and was a finalist for the 2023 Saba Prize.
He has performed at festivals and clubs including Umbria Jazz Winter (Orvieto), Umbria Jazz Weekend (Terni), Il Jazz Italiano per le Terre del Sisma (L’Aquila), Verdi Viva (Bologna), Camera Jazz Club (Bologna), Blue Note (Milan), Cantina Bentivoglio (Bologna), Montagnola Republic (Bologna), Teatro Mazzacorati (Bologna) and Sghetto Club (Bologna).
He collaborates and has collaborated with Giovanni Falzone, Guglielmo Pagnozzi, Giovanni Benvenuti, Pietro Paris, Barend Middelhoff, Michele Corcella, Cristiano Arcelli, Stefano Senni, Alessandro Paternesi, Francesco Bigoni, Gaetano Alfonsi, Martini Big Band and Orchestra Fonterossa. He is a member of the Cristiano Arcelli Quartet, Mauro Patti’s Telamon Quintet and Davide Angelica’s band Kolosso, and leads and co-leads the trio Apologies and the quintet Five Angry Men.
